GENKI is a highly acclaimed series published by The Japan Times of Japanese Language Textbooks featuring to learn elementary Japanese through a well-balanced approach to all four language skill areas such as speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Divided into 2 volumes, GENKI introduce students to the elementary Japanese grammar points through its 23 lessons as well as 300 kanji and 1100 vocabulary terms.

After finishing GENKI, learners can start studying at the intermediate level. After Genki 2, a third volume in the series for the Chukyu (Intermediate) level goes by the name An Integrated Approach to Intermediate Japanese without bearing the name Genki.
